BSI’s Camp Auction Kicks Off on March 9th! Read On to See How You Can Help

We’re so excited for BSI’s 5th Annual Summer Camp and Children Classes Auction! This is your chance to get ahead of summer plans by bidding on a variety of day and sleepaway camps and enrichment classes. It’s also a chance to raise money for our school from families outside of BSI (so be sure to tell your friends!).

Our auction will open on March 9 and run through March 19.

Wondering what kind of camps will be on the block? Here’s a sneak peek: A full summer at Mill Basin Day Camp! Many thanks to parent Nick Kremer for securing this incredible donation!  Mill Basin Day Camp is one of the most popular camps in Brooklyn, and an auction hit. Once you see it, you’ll know why.

However, we are still far behind on solicitations, which is what will drive the success of this annual tradition. Can you take 10 minutes to reach out to a favorite camp or class in your neighborhood on our behalf? 

The deadline for submissions is March 1. Thank you to all the parents who have already reached out for donations.

Here’s all you have to do:

STEP 1: Claim a camp. Put your name in the BSI Contact 2017 column on our donation grid. You are now the main BSI contact for this company. If questions come up, just email auction@bsipto.org. New camps and companies are welcome! Add them to the grid.

STEP 2: Reach out to the camp via email, phone, or in person (we’ve included a sample email below)

STEP 3: Once you have confirmation of a donation, either you or the camp must input the auction items using our Online Donation Submission Form. This is where descriptions and restrictions (e.g. “first time families only”) are noted. Then please go back to the donation grid in STEP 1 and fill out columns E & F.

Haven’t heard back? Follow up in a week. If a camp declines, simply note that in column E.

My child attends PS/IS 686, The Brooklyn School of Inquiry. We are a public NYC K-8 school with families from all over Brooklyn and beyond. Our popular online summer camp auction runs the first two weeks in March and we’re seeking donations. Bidding is open to anyone so the auction is promoted far and wide. All of the money we raise goes back into the school and supports programs such as chess, art, music, dance, science, media literacy, educational assistants, and more.

Would you participate? The BSI PTO is a 501c3 organization. Donations are tax deductible. We’d be happy to include a “new families only” restriction.
