Register Now! The BSI Chess Tournament is Saturday, June 10, 2017

Registration is open for the 3rd annual BSI Chess Tournament on Saturday, June 10 at 9:30 am in the BSI cafeteria.

The BSI Chess Tournament is a friendly, unrated tournament, and great way to get a taste of competitive play. Both rated and unrated players are welcome, but USCF ratings will not be affected by results.

Registration priority will be given to BSI families, siblings of BSI students who attend other schools, and friends of BSI until June 1, when registration will open up to the public. Registration will close on Friday, June 9. Children AND parents are welcome to play.

Tickets are $30 and required only for participating players. All tickets purchases include a BSI stainless steel water bottle and snacks. Water bottles will also be available for purchase at the tournament for $15, while supplies last.

Families are encouraged to join our playground potluck picnic for lunch: just bring a blanket to sit on and a dish to share. Families may also make separate arrangements to have pizza or other food delivered.

For questions or to volunteer on tournament day, please email Vlad Bugayev at or Mai Hoang at

Earth Day Toy Drive – Thank You!

Thank you to everyone who contributed to our second used toy/book/games drive during Earth Week. Our donations will be given out to hundreds of children on July 4th when Project You holds their annual holiday picnic.

Special thanks to Marcia Osgood for all her hard work organizing the collection and pick-up; Chris Minaya and Maryana for the invaluable administrative support; Hemalee and Sara, Co-Chairs of the Give Back Committee; and Adam Holland and the four 6th grade boys – Lewis, Joshua, Dylan, and Andrew, who cleaned, sorted and packed 40 bags/boxes of toys, and loaded it all into the donation truck. Second-grader Saam helped load the truck, too. It was an amazing effort and they deserve our thanks!
